Wash and Dry

Wet feathers cool and
clean with dust to follow as
bath powder for birds

~ carliewired

We've arranged our summer watering today with a local fellow. He will arrive twice a week to give big drinks to our citrus and shrubs. The summer temperatures in Yuma can hover at 100 degrees Fahrenheit for weeks in the summer months so we understand that watering is necessary.

Today, I filled the well under the orange tree using the hose while I hung clothes on the line. I noticed that the sparrows ventured into the big puddle under the tree to bath. The little blighters have been ignoring my elegant bird bath in the yard for weeks now. Somehow, this muddy pool under the tree looked inviting to them. Several took turns, ignoring the wreckage of failed sprinkler hoses left behind. Once doused and wet, each shook himself and flew off to the dusty patch at the end of the walkway to take a dust bath. It was quite a production!
