Onion Seedling

This tiny shoot - less than a cm tall at the moment - will one day be a full sized onion.  That is, if it avoids the various hazards that face it over the next few months.  The worst risks are frost and pigeons or slugs - these latter two looking for yummy meals! At the moment it is safe indoors.

The sprayed on water drops reflect the rest of the seed tray and a part of my conservatory which I used as  a 'studio'.  The shot is taken with my 105 sigma lens plus a couple of extension tubes to get close in.  If the aperture was fully open the area of focus was too small so I closed it down a bit - hence the octagonal bokeh in the background.

Spring is definitely springing!
