The Temple Church

I have been in London today partly to visit the Conflict, Time and Photography Exhibition on at Tate Modern (stunning and deeply moving) but also to meet with fellow blipper, June Fox.  

We started our afternoon with lunch in The Knights Templar pub in Chancery Lane and then moved on through various historic  byways of the legal world, taking photographs as we meandered. There is just so much history and tradition going back a very long time that's it's quite overwhelming!  We managed to blag our way into Lincolns's Inn Old Hall, built in the 1490s, which is not actually open to the public.  This used to one of London's main courts, Thomas More would have dined here, and it is the court featured in the opening scene of Bleak House by Charles Dickens. Someone just happened to come along with a key as I was staring at the locked door and it didn't require too much persuasion for June and I to get 'just a peep' inside!
My blip though is of the Temple Church built by the Knights Templar and first consecrated in 1185! It has been an active church ever since and is beautiful.  I hope the soaring columns will fit the wide angle, leading lines challenge by Hobbs.  My lens unfortunately did not have a wide enough angle to take in the whole of this wonderful dome, despite me lying down on the floor!
