Sunshiny Day

After all the rain yesterday the most beautiful day. Bright and frosty this morning and then sheer crisp airiness this afternoon. The trouble is you work too hard! I have turned a compost bin, got eight excellent barrowfuls out of it, two remaining for tomorrow, and applied to two beds; hacked back a few brambles, weeded another swampy bed and washed the car. The cats were  rolling in the catnip newly emerged, hooded crows were stealing wool literally off the sheeps' backs in the field next door and rooks were noisily doing whatever rooks do.

A fantastic amount of entries to this week's Derelict Thursday - over 90, which makes choosing five faves horribly difficult. Lots of new people taking part too so thank you for that. An abundance of ramshackle sheds, priories and churches, peeling paintwork, beetled wood,  tons of sheer rubbish; a dinky milk house, an old corn crib, a jaunty cinema, castles and turrets. once posh mansions, sad old pubs, a bathroom with a view, cryptic messages, a bird's nest and a plough, dangling trainers, a bike and a balaustrade, strange statues and so many little doors just ajar leading to who knows where.

My faves in no particular order:
Felicity's Gate  by SK, one of those intriguing doorways impossible to resist
Derelict Hut  by Beachcomber, this week's house I would like to move into
Something New  by sjb, so colourful and hopefully something good coming out of this dereliction
Out of Gas!  by Printman, for the most bizarre sight! I fear banjoes can only be a stride away.
African-American Museum by AroundHome, another very strange sight with a fascinating history

And Himself's Faves:
Here are my favourites for this week's DT challenge:
Snap out of it by Sylviacebula
A sad sight but I like the treatment which fits the image perfectly and the figure walking past adds interest too.
The George & The Dragon by Ellisroger
This apparently simple image has a strange spooky aura - the gallows-like structure adds to it.
Abandoned by CTJ,
What a fascinating old building. I would love to investigate it!
African-American Museum  by AroundHome
The story behind this attracted me but the image has a powerful incongruity, full of symbolism
Dereliction in the Rain by MotherShipton
Another building I would like to explore with the weather adding to the feeling of dereliction in this image.

Fingers crossed that all this works!
