Party Day

Today has been party day for the K household!
First of all it was Miss E's birthday party at the Spy Mission place she loves. It's where she had her party last year and has talked about ever since!
It was just girls today and they all had fun cracking codes, solving clues and defeating baddies. We don't got in with them but from what I understand it's a cross between 24, Spooks and the Crystal Maze!
And they get to eat party food at the end. Perfect!!
From there we went home, packed our bags and when Nanny arrived we headed back to Milton Keynes for the train to London.
Party number two!
It was nice to see the journey Mr K does every day. He gets spoilt in First Class! And is clearly a hit with all ladies in the lounge!! Ha ha!!!
The Stafford Hotel is fabulous!! Oh my goodness!
I felt like a scruffy urchin as we had a guided tour and were eventually shown to our wonderful room.
We had vaguely planned to go out and do something for a while before the party but we ended up just relaxing in the room. And almost falling asleep on the biggest bed I have ever seen. You could lay across it width ways and stretch out as far as you could and still not reach the edges!
The party was for my dear friend Miss T's fortieth birthday. She flew in from Sydney yesterday and is going home on Monday!!
The theme was 40's glamour and it was fun to get dressed in my swooshy Ginger Rogers dress and sparkly heels.
First of all we were treated to a wine and champagne tasting with the Master Sommelier in the nearly 400 year old wine cellars. There was some very impressive saberage (opening a champagne bottle with a saber!)
Then we explored the cellars which were fascinating. Lots of wartime memorabilia, secret passages to St James's Palace and thousands of bottles of wine. All lit by candles. Just wonderful!
Then a sensational dinner, more wine, lots of laughter, and cocktails. Followed by extreme tiredness and a general realisation that my party days are pretty much behind me!!!
We lasted until about Midnight and then sneaked back to our room.
A very special night for a very special friend.
