Falling Leaves

It's been a very autumnal day here in the forest. Not that you'd know for the most part, the lush native podocarp forest here means the predominant colour here is still green, rather than browny-gold.

Having said that, the oak tree in our front garden is still turning on the autumn colours. Mrs H has been raking up leaves this afternoon, so this shot of a post-rake leaf on the lawn may seem like a slap in the face, but I couldn't help be taken by the juxtaposition of the autumn colour with the green of our lush lawn.

Tomorrow promises to be a big day; I'm due to be heading inland to Lake Clearwater and Lake Heron with the Geraldine camera club (weather permitting), and hopefully we'll be back to for the start of the big game as the blackcaps take on the Australians in the Cricket World Cup final at the MCG. Should be memorable!
