Farm Girl

We met up with Mrs R, Miss M and Mr H at Rookery Farm today. We had to park several fields away from the entrance and I thought of Mr K as we bounced over the grass - he's always up for a bit of off-roading!
I've never had to park so far away and was expecting it to be horrendously busy but it was actually fine.
The children disappeared off into the soft play bit while Mrs R and I chatted over tea. By 11.30am they were all starving to death apparently so we ate our picnic lunch - inside - and a bit earlier than planned. I watched them all eating their sausage rolls, sausages, crisps, rice krispie cakes, biscuits, sandwiches and chocolate.
While I enjoyed my pineapple and tomatoes!!
We went to look at all the animals - lambs, guinea pigs, enormous rabbits, baby goats, baby chicks, calves. All very sweet!
We saw a few just born lambs which was amazing. If a little disgusting!!
For the rest of the afternoon we sat out in the sun while the children played on the bouncy castles and slides, swings, ride-on tractors, milked the life size model cow, dug in the sandpit, climbed on a giant combine harvester climbing frame, ran around and generally had a good time!
We eventually left after a last look at the newborn lambs and ice cream. And drove at top speed to gymnastics which we made by the skin of our teeth just for a change. Miss L had fallen asleep so I had a nice hour in the sun.
Miss E said she didn't want to go to McDonalds - because it's not healthy!! - so we came straight home for crumpets and strawberries (much healthier!) and an hour in the garden. Lovely!
A quick paddle in the bath to de-mud their filthy feet and then they snuggled into our bed for Tinkerbell and the Secret of the Wings. It's becoming a bit of a holiday habit!
