The Rotten Romans

BB has been studying the Romans at school and was very keen to visit Hadrian’s Wall.  First of all we headed to Corbridge Roman Town.  We spent some time looking round the museum before heading out to the ruins.  It is a very exposed site (they all are!) and it was quite chilly.  Hats, scarves and gloves were required.  We then headed to Hexham, where we had some lunch and then visited the Abbey.  The sun had some out and the temperature had risen so we then headed off to Housesteads Roman Fort.  It is in a lovely (but exposed) position on a hillside.  BB loved it and even went for a short walk along Hadrian’s Wall with TT.  I had to laugh when I heard an American man say, hey look, that kid is on the wall.  When I looked – it was my kid!

After yesterday’s industrial history (and Lego), here is BB in the Roman latrines at Housesteads, telling us about Roman toilet habits.  He learned about this at school apparently!
