A time for everything

Chablis

Monday
With the promise of a sunny day, we headed to the wine town of Chablis for the day. The Chablis region is the northernmost wine district of the Burgundy region in France. The grapevines around the town of Chablis are almost all Chardonnay, making a dry white wine renowned for the purity of its aroma and taste. We didn't get a particularly early start, and by the time we got down there, it was approaching lunchtime, so the first stop was a restaurant for lunch. Then we went for a walk around the town and up into the vineyards. Whilst the vineyards themselves were still quite bare, there were quite a lot of wild flowers out, especially cowslips, and buds on some of the trees were beginning to open up. Altogether, it made for a great day out.
