New broom

After a cool grey morning, the sun came out this afternoon. Although it was quite chilly, the sky was a beautiful bright clear blue. So I finished off the task begun yesterday, tying in the double line of bamboo canes, clearing remaining weeds from the soil and planting runner beans. Rain overnight had liberally watered those I planted yesterday, and the moist soil made today's job easy.

My mother, a very keen gardener, always used to say that when she planted, God invariably watered. It seems I may have inherited her green-fingered good fortune.

The seedling runner beans are not very exciting to blip yet, but this beautiful broom has been an eye feast against today's gorgeous blue sky.
