Castle at Pruhonice Park

Today we took the bus in the opposite direction toward Pruhonice. Ian and Jerien drove to the same place by bike. It was a short trip from where we are staying. Our destination was Pruhonice Park. http://www.parkpruhonice.cz/index.php?site=en It is one of the largest alpine parks in Europe. It was founded in 1885 by Count Arnost Emanuel Tarouca. You can read more about the place if you take the link.

We spent all morning at the park, walking along past beautiful rock gardens and ponds and up into a forested area. Every now and then we got a view of the castle that is a prominent part of the scenery.

We stopped at the small cafe in the castle for lunch. We quickly found that this place is not a tourist trap. Everybody there were locals and we really enjoyed joining in. At the restaurant there were no English menus and the waiter did not speak English. So we all had a great laugh as he pantomimed the kinds of food for lunch, making pig, cow and chicken sounds to let us know. We ended up getting one of each and Jerien had the vegetarian meal. Everything was delicious and we continued to enjoy laughing with the waiter.

Ian and Jerien continued on with their bike riding while Arvin and I waited for the bus and then headed home. We had a delightful day.
