Hvar

April 24

At midnight the boat took off for Hvar Island. The sea was choppy and I woke often to the sound of the bow slamming in the waves. It wasn't the best ever sleep.

The busses came at 8 am and we all headed up the "old road" to visit the old town of Hvar. Along the road there were many walls of stacked stones made 200-300 years ago. These were dry walls, nothing holding the stones together. And they were very large and wide, unlike the walls in the Eastern US.

When we got to Hvar we went on a short walking tour and then spent a while deciding what to do next. We went to the T shirt shop where there were unique handmade shirts available. I bought one for Arvin, Dave and Steve. We then stopped at Nona's coffee shop for cappuccino and chocolate peanut butter cake. We spent a lovely quiet time relaxing before heading back to the bus.

From there we went to a winery where we sampled two white and on red wine. And the had some Grappa. After that we returned to the boat for lunch.

After lunch the ship took off for Split. When we arrived we had a short walk before dinner and bed.
