St Stephen's, Peel Forest

This pretty little church stands in the centre of Peel Forest village and, like many of its older and hardier residents, can talk of surviving through tough times.

Built originally in 1868, the church was blown down by a ferocious Nor'Wester in 1884 and rebuilt two years later. The bell tower that now stands independently from the church was also once part of the structure; like the rest of the church, the bell tower succumbed to the Nor'West in 1914, and was rebuilt in the grounds.

I think you could say it's a great reflection of how resilient some folks are around these parts...
