Follow the winding path ...

... through the wild garlic woods.
Yesterday we were enjoying the buttercups giving a yellow glow to the meadows around St Ives woods and over the last couple of weeks we have been revelling in the blue shades of bluebells in the same woods and at Hardcastle Crags.
Today we were in Strid Woods along the River Wharfe and there are still, surprisingly, lots of bluebells but today's dominant flower were of the Wild Garlic plants. Gorgeous to see and pungent to smell.

Chris and I were here a month ago and the main flowers were Wood Anemones. It's great to plot the seasons by the wild flowers.

We were a group of 10 ladies and four dogs. One of which was new to our group, Pomeranian puppy Chester who seemed to really enjoy himself. Sadly old faithful Toby, the Westie is finding the walking a bit much and ended up being carried the last few yards.

We all enjoyed our tea and cream scones as usual back at Bolton Abbey overlooking the great vista of the Abbey itself.
As usual there were lots of birds hovering for a crumb or two as well as four hopeful dogs. You can see one you might not expect in my extra shot.

Lovely morning out, shame about the traffic hold up on the way back!
