Ferris Wheel

We saw Vivid Sydney  tonight ... at least the Darling Harbour part of it called the Vivid Laser Fountain Water Theatre. Circumstances conspired to prevent us getting to the Circular Quay displays - but that's a long boring story as it happens. Anyway this show consisted of a huge spray of water propelled high into the air by hundreds of powerful jets though which laser lights could be projected from various parts of the surrounding cityscape along with submerged LED projectors, fire burst canons and rocket launched fireworks.

I finished up with so many images it'll take me ages to prepare a Flickr gallery but I'll try to get a few pictures up as "extras" over the next little while. I must say that the show wasn't easy to shoot because the beams appeared to be pulsing at about 15 hertz with the result that where a shape was being created with the use of multiple beams, for any given shutter opening of  (say) 1/60 sec, at least some of the out of phase projections were effectively off ... which meant I could rarely get a fully coherent image. Oh well. Live and learn.

This is a shot of the big ferris wheel offering visitors a high vantage point to the show. It was itself being illuminated and proved to be among the location's more interesting sights.
