Purrfect Sunday

As we took a gentle drive through the sunny Northamptonshire countryside this morning I took a step back in time and discovered more about my friend's life in the area. I imagined a happy childhood as she pointed out the house where she grew up, next to a field where they kept a pony that kept escaping over a wall into the Vicar's garden!

In the distance we could see the church where she was christened and by the side of the road a village store that was once her father's electrical shop. We drove through another picturesque village with thatched cottages and another pretty church where my friend got married and she pointed out a Mews renamed after her late husband's garage.

We indulged in a spot of shopping in the vintage shops in Olney village and had a lovely lunch in an Itailian bistro before heading back to my friend's garden for sunshine and the newspapers.

Three cats and one dog joined us for some sun worshipping on the patio as we sipped Prosecco and relaxed with the Sunday papers.

All in all a pretty perfect Sunday.
