Village in Kotor

I finished this small oil painting (9 by 12 inches) today in open studio. It is of a small village nestled along the edge of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Kotor was one of my favorite places on our recent trip. I loved everything about the place including the amazing beauty of the bay and the villages against its edges that we saw as our ship entered the bay and headed toward the port at Kotor. It was a wonderful place. The photo that was the inspiration for this painting was much more muted and less colorful. I wanted to express my feeling for the warmth of the place and these colors make me happy so here they are. This painting is one of a new series I'm working on called "Shadow and Light."
