Brave Birthday Girl

We had a very special passenger on our flight going back to London tonight.  This is Suzie, one of our Flight Attendant colleagues based in London.  This was the 2nd day that Suzie and her husband have been standing by for a flight to London.  Not only did they get on what was a very full flight, they got First Class seats which were especially welcome since it was also Suzie's birthday today.

I've called Suzie the BRAVE Birthday Girl because she has been bravely fighting cancer for many years and we have witnessed an incredible journey which she has travelled with grace, courage, determination, humour, and a great faith in God.  Suzie has had numerous surgeries, the details of which sometimes sound more like science fiction than science!  She now has part of her shoulder blade replacing the bone in her jaw as well as a titanium plate from her ear to her chin which she says looks a bit like a bicycle chain.

Suzie is on a medical leave and will be retiring soon, so it was great to spend time with her, hearing her stories and laughing together.  She brings cheer wherever she goes and is always an inspiration.

Happy Birthday, Suzie!
