Mono Monday : : Soft

In our water starved desert environment there aren't too many soft things. Our garden tends more toward the spiky and the thorny. One exception is the grass which can look quite graceful and soft, especially when it is going to seed. I found this clump growing by the side of the road. I hope sepia is considered mono, since California golden grasses just don't look right in black and white.

We are having a run of nearly perfect weather…slightly overcast in the morning clearing to blue skies and temperate weather. There are no soft fluffy clouds and the neighbors are keeping their cats inside due to the presence of a pair of foxes.

Will took a picture as he was leaving our house the other evening of a fox sitting on our mango wood bench in the front yard, and texted it to me titled, "sup Mr. Fox". He reported later that he had seen another one nearby. Ozzie has been sniffing intensively around the bench, the front steps and porch, and the gate to the bin enclosure, which led OilMan and Will to investigate the storage space. No actual foxes in evidence, but there was a large pile of feathers and a half eaten rat's head, strongly suggesting that Mr. Fox has moved in. I'm glad he's discreet about where he leaves his half consumed prey. And as long as it's rats, I say , "go for it Mr. Fox"
