Seashells.

Lovely day spent with Mum mainly at St. Cyrus today... Hot croissants with butter and jam for breakfast, then a drive to the Nature Reserve by Montrose that I've visited with both University classmates and M.

We walked to the cliffs on the North side of the beach, and hunted for periwinkles, crabs, anemones and limpets. We spent a good half-hour hunched over rock pools moving the seaweed out of the way, and creeping up on limpets to prise them off rocks before they heard us and glued themselves on properly.

There were thousands of periwinkles stuck to the rocks, with such a wide range of colours we couldn't resist picking the best (a sort of shellfish version of X Factor) and arranging them in a nice circle on a bed of seaweed... Unfortunately the periwinkles had other ideas and wouldn't stay in line, so they became a pile of periwinkles instead :)

Home via Steptoe's yard, which I think blew Mum away... Not entirely sure if it was in a positive or negative way.

Quick Blip as Mum and I are off to have tea with M's Mum and Dad too, and gossip about him while he's still offshore! Feeling much better after yesterday's illness and more than ready for a nice Italian at Rustico's.
