Nature Girl

This one can spot an "amial" at thirty paces!!!
Our first day at the gite today. It was lovely having nothing to get up for and nowhere to be.
The gite is lovely.
Our arrival was slightly marred last night as we were shown around by the owner's mother in law. With no apology whatsoever she listed fault after fault - broken pool steps, broken decking round the pool, broken lock on the pool gate, broken shower door (Please DO NOT move the shower head), two missing knobs on the range cooker, don't use the chipped cups.
She laughingly mentioned the cockerel next door which would wake us at dawn and the smoke from the blazing inferno coming directly into the house from next door.
The smell of which was competing with the overpowering stench of the insect spray she was spraying all over the fireplace. To kill the flying ants apparently.
She failed to mention to the missing gate in the "secure garden", the missing door on the bedside cabinet and all the broken and loose paving stones around the pool.
Oh and she hadn't made all the beds up because she didn't know how old the children were.
So it's fair to say we were less than impressed
And that was before we read the "welcome" note which told us not to use too much electricity or else it would be deducted from our security deposit, not to put rubbish in the wrong bins, not to use bedding we haven't paid for. Or else that'll be deducted from our deposit too, not to use the hose as the water is metered, not to enter the pool with sun cream on as it damages the filter (?????)
I will be emailing the owner on our return with some feedback.
That said, the gite is lovely, and we had a wonderful lazy day today. After popping to Carrefour for supplies after breakfast we came home and spent the day in and out of the deathtrap pool, watching tennis, catching up with Blips, catching snails, eating proper meals, frivolously using electricity doing two loads of laundry, playing and eating French bread, cheese, pate and olives.
Fabulous!

Finally up-to-date with holiday Blips. Starting here!
