Above And Beyond...

Central Reservation Poppies

The blipfoto is an aerial of poppies in the central reservation on the A48 at Castleton, Cardiff. As I drove past them, the vivid colour grabbed me and I knew it would be my photo of the day. I had to go home and grab my gear but the effort is well worth it.

I'd been called out about 9am, and immediately on finishing that, I was given another at a specialist clinic. I know the receptionist, Sharon, and hadn't seen her for a while. I used to work with her husband, Paul, in the late 1970's/early 80's. She was really busy and as I completed paperwork, I asked how Paul was keeping. She said he's got prostate cancer and they've given him 4 years. What can you say? I was shocked.

During the week, on a aerial photography forum I go on, a chap apologised for not being on it lately and explained he had terminal prostate cancer.

The wife's brother was diagnosed with it last year. As far as we know he is going to be okay. He doesn't talk about it, so I hope it's the case.

I got checked out last year but may well go back and insist of a PSA test.

So my blip photo is a tribute to all suffering from prostate cancer.
