Serenity under the stars

With another cold, crystal clear night upon us, I once more decided to head out to capture the stars.

This is the view south towards the bright lights of the Clandeboye milk processing plant, shot with my 8mm fisheye to get an almost 180 view top to bottom.

I think the red glow behind the dairy plant may be attributable to a faint aurora australis, which has been seen south of New Zealand tonight. I'm definitely facing the right direction here, but I think I'd have to call Clandeboye and tell them to cut the lights to be sure... :-)

Christchurch for work tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get a city blip for a change...
