201

The bus 201 plies the route between Aberdeen and Braemar. I imagine it does so in greater comfort than the stagecoach would have done in days gone by. Today the bus has the advantage of a seat indoors relatively free from draughts, with heating and WiFi. This last maybe not consistently. The modern bus will also cover the distance a lot faster, and without stopping to feed the horse power, nor is the exhaust as obvious on the road as that left by the horses.

To my eyes the stagecoach is more romantic, but in its day this would have been about as romantic as the bus is today. To our eyes the windmill is romantic, but the wind turbine seems mundane, and to some it is an blot on the landscape. Perhaps in some future time the wind turbine will look as romantic as the stagecoach does today.

I came across this stagecoach at Milton of Crathes by chance when I had stopped for a coffee.
