THE TREE THAT IS LOVED BY CROWS

Actually there were three trees, but that did we only found out later.
The day started so nice and sunny. It seemed a good idea to start earlier than we did other days. Our choice was a path that we could see on the map, walking from Derental on a path in a valley (or so it seemed), till a certain hut and then return along another path, higher up the hills.
Derental is a village, in a beautiful landscape, lying against the Solling forests.
We first ate some delicious blackberries, found along the path, the first that were sunbaked and really sweet.
Then we walked a path, bordered on both sides with meadows, with cows here and there. Birds of prey above our heads, smaller birds in the bushes.
On our way back we saw the tree of the picture, when we came nearer lots of crows flew out of this tree. Had we scared them?
Some of them returned after a while.
We sat and lay down on the earth to rest for a while. It was so quiet there. In the village there is large hotel, closed now. Not enough people love to walk in the vicinity any longer. We are, it seems, utterly old fashioned.

My haiku:

Hidden, yes they were
Hidden, quietly between leaves
Till we disturbed them

And the proverb:

The highest branch is not the safest roost.
