Raffles - where else

I was up for a swim just after 8 but the family weren't ready to go so i had a walk down Bras Basah Road to Raffles Hotel.  The lens steamed up for the main door shot so this is a corner view.  it's right on the corner of the area shut off for F1. Raffles Hotel is on Beach road.  When I first saw it in '71 it was pretty much on the beach, no longer. In Singapore you can't keep a car longer than 5 years, then it's crushed and used as landfill.

Once everyone was up we went to Dome at the Arts Museum for brunch and then a stroll up Fort Canning Hill.  Another change, in 2001 #3 son and I trudged up in the heat to visit the Battle Box, now there is an escalator.  Very civilised.

Then it was out to #1 son's gaffe to drop him and his stuff off and we headed north.  It took about 5 and a half hours including a stop.  I was in agony much of the way, a blistered little toe and my back, still objecting after yesterday's almost 20,000 steps.  But at least i got to see the countryside we were driving though, although not much to see, many palms!

We went to Verve for food.  I had chips!  And then bed.  Olivia was very clingy and tearful when we got back but she did go down.  Her poor mum has work to do.

On the F1 front - Vetterl in a Ferrari won, Hamilton had to retire and Rosberg was 4th!
