Manchester Trams

Woke up to a sunny morning in Manchester which was a pleasant suprise. Walked from the hotel on Pollard Street to the conference venue at Openshaw, not the most pleasant of walks alongside the main road.

Conference went well, bit like olden days when I used to do this sort of thing on a regular basis and pretty much every day when taking assemblies in school. All the old skills came flooding back!

By the time the conference had ended, Manchester weather had reverted back to type so it was a cloudy and increasingly damp walk back to the city centre, a very damp walk around the Piccadilly Gardens area, a coffee in Nero's. This shot of the trams by the station was the best I could offer today.

Passed a pleasant hour in the First Class lounge at Piccadilly before joining the train back to London. The return journey from Bearsted was £61.50 which was a bargain (senior railcard you see) - comfortable, with plenty of food and beverages. I could quite get to enjoy this style of travel.
