Ruff(Philomachus Pugnax)

This Ruff actually came towards me to see what I was doing while I was trying to take a photograph of it. This bird is a bit odd looking with its neck extended as it looks a bit out of proportion, so not the best shot to show off this bird. In spring the male grows a huge ruff of feathers around the neck and has curly crown-tuffs, which is why this bird is called a Ruff. I've started to include their Latin names as some of the birds have quite amusing Latin names and you can learn quite a bit about their character & appearance from their full names. Beautifully marked feathers on this bird.
