The Edge of the Wold

Curlew water

We were away a week, yet in that short time, Autumn has leaped forwards.  Our Amelanchier and Katsura trees are already shedding their leaves, and one of our 7 apples had fallen from its twig (the rest now safely cropped).  Gus, meanwhile, despite being away from the bigger pack, was in joyful mood.  He raced up the Knott this morning, leaving me panting in his wake (with a cold that mysteriously appeared when we were away).

This was on Gus's evening walk, the sun now setting before 1830, and making an appearance after a day largely obscured by clouds.  The curlew was feeding in the reflecting water of New Barns Bay.

I have posted the first holiday backblip (not backslap as the autocorrect on this computer always wants to insert) from the trip to Raasay, and I should be able to post something for every day when there is time.
