Mesopotamia in Monochrome

Today we headed up country, traveling the 45 minutes up the Gorge Road towards the famous station of Mesopotamia.

Mrs H and Daring2Go accompanied me in the Pajero as we crossed rough roads and stop banks to our final destination on the banks of the Rangitata, not far from Dr Sinclair's grave at the windswept remote Mesopotamia Cemetery.

This shot is looking upriver towards the Potts Range on the right of the river (Mt Potts is in the middle of the group of peaks on the right) and the Cloudy Peak range, seen just off centre.

I thought I'd shoot this with a view to a monochrome processing - the sky was very blue and the rocks grey as grey could be, but for me the textures and contrasts really sing in black and white.

The extra photo shows the view facing the other way - the Ben McLeod range rising up behind willow trees that skirt the banks of the Rangitata.
