Life in Sunny Dubai

Sohar Beach

Got up and out early today for G's visa run! We had arranged to meet up with our friend Hilde who drove up from Muscat. We met half way in Sohar (Oman's historic port where Sinbad the Sailor started many a voyage!) and were it not for the ongoing roadworks which had taken down important street signs, we would have made it on time!

Sitting by the Arabian Sea, enjoying a cool sea breeze, eating good food and catching up was a fab way to spend a few hours. What a treat. I remember calling in at this hotel once before in 2008 on the way home. The aircon belt on the Volvo had broken an hour into the journey and the drive back was pretty hot to say the least! Nothing like that today thankfully and the Peugeot's gears are doing really well.

I've chosen a few images for the day. The best was the sea itself. Dubai doesn't seem to have anything of equivalent affordability or pleasantness right on the beach! The pink suitcase spotted on the way out was just what I needed for the penultimate BCAM2015 challenge.

Easy driving there and back without any hassle but other UAE residents must have cottoned on to cheap Omani petrol as there were massive queues at our regular station, so we tried two others on the way home and they had both closed due to running out of fuel!!!! There you go.

The weekends fly by so fast. ;(
