"You Got a Problem with This?"

Dear Diary,

This is Winston a particularly cheeky woodpecker that visits the feeders every day.  I don't begrudge a bird a single seed but Winston is not interested in the seeds it seems.  He begins by just hanging on the feeder for several minutes and then it starts.  Seed by seed he flings them out of the feeder.  He apparently thinks this is some sort of odd tree and he is digging for bugs.  Of course he doesn't find any but that doesn't stop him from liberating a lot of seeds.

Now, this has a certain pay off.  Especially for Philomena and the other chipmunks who scamper to and fro under the feed collecting the cast offs.  Nothing, in the end, is wasted.  I love the way he uses his tail for balance!  He can hang like this for 10 minutes or more.

I have another woodpecker who hops along the tree in acceptable woodpecker behavior...Rafael.  He is a red-headed variety, unlike Winston.  But to answer your question Winston, no, I don't have a problem with your silly behavior.  Go for it.  Philly and Hoover thank you from the bottom of their tiny hearts!
