Breaking in and breaking out

Dear Diary,

Both Gaylord and Philomena have been trying to figure out how to break into the seed can on the back porch.  They can't of course but they keep trying to find a way in.

Philly is also breaking out a new exit hole to her tunnel system, which I suspect is quite extensive.  (Extra photograph today.)  She already has a few front doors and back doors and this one is right in the middle of my perennials!  I keep filling it in and she keeps digging it out so I've given up.

I've accepted the fact that she has to have that b----y hole and she has accepted the fact that she has to wait for me to fill the seed bowl each morning...it is a standoff.
