Bristol

We went to Bristol today to meet Colin as it is a convenient mid-point.  We met in Colston Hall and had coffee before setting off for Nelson Street to have a look at the street art.   I was a bit dissapointed as the display was not as extravegant as on our previous visit a a couple of years ago  It seems like half the street has been demolished for redevelopment.

I did see this Banksy on the side of a building though which I didn't see last time (it's not down Nelson Street).  Colin showed it to us this evening shortly before leaving Bristol,  it's nice to see it hasn't been dug out of the wall and sold to some millionaire collector.

After a walk round the Georgian quarter we had soup for lunch in Nero then wandered down to the harbour.  As with most cities this area has been greatly regenerated though the original railway and some of the cranes have been kept.  We took a look at SS Great Britain, through the fence, then walked back to M Shed.  Originally one of the dockside storage warehouses M Shed is now the museum of the city of Bristol and it's people.  From its growth during the terrible slave trading years to the St Paul 's riots in 1980.  An excellent show case for the city with a roof terrace and a cafe, where we had a cup of tea.

Time for tea, sorry dinner, so we hunted out a Bella Italia, as we had a discount voucher, and had a nice meal and a glass of red.

So ended a really nice day, Colin went to Temple Mead to catch his train and we caught the bus to the park & ride.

The 'extra' is a picture of the M Shed with the cranes in front of it.
