But, then again . . . . .

Mono Monday - Another Brick in the Wall.

Well, actually, it's another two bricks in the wall; I wonder if that disqualifies me from the Mono Monday challenge. I might do better with these themed challenges if I could escape from the literal side of my nature. These particular bricks are air bricks, added when we had a new gas fire fitted a few years ago; "Elf and safety" regulations, and while I heartily approve of ensuring that we don't die of carbon monoxide poisoning due to lack of ventilation, when you live in a house that's 135 years old, the problem is trying to keep the ventilation level down low enough so that we can keep the house warm for a reasonable cost.

We have ventilation round the doors, between the floorboards and under the skirting boards; and the ventilation that comes through the electrical sockets would blow a candle out if we ever had to use one.

To add insult to injury, many of our gas appliances have carbon monoxide sensors that cut off the supply if they so much as think we might have a ventilation problem. They are very sensitive to blustery weather, and we've been having a lot of that recently with  Hurricane Annabel lurking round the top end of Scotland.

We're looking forward to the summer.

Thanks to GoranZebuhr for hosting this month.
