The First One

After the cold and frost of yesterday, today it is warmer, well eight degrees Celsius is warmer than yesterday; it is raining.

A walk round the garden and a look at the large pond at the bottom of the orchard showed that the rain has had an impact. The water is the pond is about the same height as yesterday, but it has started to creep around the edge to the North leaving an island at that end, just as it should do. The ducks and wildlife like to sit on the island and if the fox is around, it might just be enough to save them if the fox does not want to get its feet and legs wet. No ducks on the pond recently, but the Moorhens are back.

While doing my ‘walkround’ accompanied by Florence, I spotted this Christmas flowering Helleborus niger, which is my choice for today.  I have several clumps if these in different borders, but on checking them there are no further buds on any of them.
