Marjorie's ramblings

"For the rain it raineth every day"

It has rained here for more than 24 hours; heavy rain accompanied by gale force winds. It was hard to sleep last night. Our plans for today (Christmas market this morning and The Great Gatsby tonight) were abandoned. We have stayed at home.

At the bottom of the village there is flooding. It is grim and quite scary.

We have pottered about. Mum is working hard to do a lot of "jobs" before her operation. Only 3 days to go.

The very good news is that yesterday she completed the embroidery she has been working on for weeks and weeks. It is for a competition entitled "Looking Through"  and is based on a window in the old ruined chapel at Nunnick Hall, just up the road from here.

There are stitches and ribbon work for the flowers. The lawn is handpainted silk. The stones around the window are individually covered with silk, again handpainted and stitched to provide texture. It looks much better than in the photograph.

Nearly time for The Bridge.  Incidentally I went to see Bridge of Spies last night. It's an excellent film although I read today that it may not be very accurate. That's a tricky thing when it is based on real life. Not knowing, I enjoyed it.

Glad to see so many people supporting Blipfuture. Onwards and upwards!
