Life in Sunny Dubai

Miracle Garden

Woke this morning to a very overcast sky which was sort-of nice until it drizzled. G had planned to take Catherine to Dubai Miracle Garden and Butterfly Garden. We set out despite what the sky looked like which was good as it was definitely more comfortable going around the large garden without the sun beating down on us. It did spit almost all the time, till at one point, we had a shower with lightning! We had stopped for lunch under the umbrellas.

Time to head to the indoor Butterfly Garden then which is exactly what we did. (See extras). What an amazing place but so sad to see so many people attempting to catch the butterflies by their wings! There are numerous staff around trying to educate people but still...

Came home via the bird sanctuary at Ras Al Khor. Again, it was still very overcast, in fact, you couldn't see the top of Burj Khalifa (another extra - taken by G). It's fantastic this nature reserve exists and that they've made hides for enthusiasts to get up close, but we now need a big exercise to educate and manage visitors/numbers.

And I heard back from Volvo. I can collect my car! There is a part I need to source, but I am told it can pass its technical test in its current state. A little bit of time was spent this evening sourcing Volvo parts on the internet. I am amazed how many more sites there are now than two years ago. Hoping to identify a cheaper/more reliable source soon... :D

Another Boxing Day over. So different from last year when I watched a hunt go out for the first time ever.
