New Year's Eve

What a fabulous end to 2015 we've had!
We went over to Mrs Z and Dr K's to spend New Year's Eve with them. Mrs Z's sister, Mrs C, was there along with her husband, Mr O, and their lovely daughter Miss E.
The Little Misses have been giddy all day asking hourly how many hours until we were leaving! It was a long day!!
We had few things to do first - an early morning, well overdue haircut for the Little Misses,  some cardboard and rubbish taken to the tip, Tescos for the first time since Christmas Eve, a thorough tidy up of Miss E's room (for which I deserve a medal!!) and a few loads of laundry done.
And a long bath and mince pies and brandy cream.
But eventually it was time to leave and from the minute we got there we had a brilliant time.
The children got on so well - spending much of the evening rollerskating round the kitchen and listening to Little Mix at full volume! Miss E - wearing skates about three sizes too big - got the hang of it surprisingly quickly and managed not to hurt herself too badly with the skidaddly falls!
She was pleased that Miss A and Miss E were fighting over helping her. She  always worries about being left out so was in seventh heaven!
The grown ups drank beer and mojitos (fabulously made by Mrs Z and then Mrs C) and ginger whisky cocktails and stuffed our faces with cheese, pate, biscuits, chicken, olives, pizza, garlic bread, stollen, chips, dips and Dr K's fabulous cake (see extras)
I got very full and very tipsy!
We had our very own fireworks display out in the back garden, brilliantly put on by Dr K (see extras) and sparklers and then came back in for more cocktails, more food, more crazy rollerskating, more chatting and laughter.
By 10pm the children were getting a bit teary and hysterical. The cake, coke and chocolate probably didn't help!!
After a raucous rendition of Auld Land Syne and a quick round of musical statues they were packed off to bed and all went to sleep surprisingly quickly. Mr K went to lie down with the Little Misses while they went to sleep and we did have to laugh when Miss E came into the living room after about fifteen minutes and sleepily announced that she'd woken up and couldn't get back  to sleep because of Mr K's snoring. You and me both love!!
We had champagne at Midnight and ate and drank a bit more until about 1.30am. I had changed into my jim-jams fairly early on in the evening!!!
A really lovely evening with our lovely friends - old and new.  I can't think of a better way to see out the old year and welcome 2016.
