Dar Batha Museum
We've had a very lazy day today. We were quite late up. After breakfast we returned to our room and read a bit, and snoozed a bit - until eventually a knock on the door disturbed us - they wanted (understandably) to service the room.
We dragged ourselves out to see the museum of Fes traditional life, housed in a redundant palace. The exhibits were mediocre, and with no information apart from a basic description in French and Arabic, but the palace and the gardens were lovely.
The photo is a general view of one end of the palace, shaded by a large Quercus rotundifolia (an evergreen oak). As an extra I've put in a photo of the ceiling in one of the rooms - I got into trouble with one of the guards!
After wandering round there for a while, we managed to find our way back through the Medina to the Cafe Clock, which was recommended in our guide book and by our Guest House. It was tucked away down a tiny alley - we would never have ventured down there if we hadn't had the place recommended. We found the cafe, and struggled up the incredibly steep steps to the rooftop Terrace. It was worth it, the food was different, and not expensive. I didn't envy the waiting staff, the kitchen was at the bottom, most of the diners were at the top!
