Eleven Bald Eagles and a Great Blue Heron

Arvin and I went up towards Mt Baker to see if there were still Bald Eagles enjoying the Chum Salmon on the Nooksack River. There were, but not many at all. The main feeding time has passed and we were a bit late to the party. But at least we got to see some eagles. Next year I will be more vigilant and we'll get there when there are more eagles like we did last year.

Having trouble finding those birds? Look large and you should see them. Many of the eagles are juveniles who are brown with white spots. They are hard to spot against the buff colored grasses. The adults have the white heads and tails and they have a hard time hiding themselves. By the way, the reason for everybody being there is in this picture too, a large deceased salmon.
