Finally, monsieur – a wafer-thin mint

Four friends and I did a walking tour in London today on the theme of chocolate.  We found out that the UK is known as having the best chocolate shops in the world.  The tour included stops at the following:
- Charbonnel et Walker where we tried their famous English Rose and Violet creams (said to be the Queen's favourite - they do have a royal warrant).  Delicious and I did buy a mixed box of chocolates at this shop....in the sale!
- Laduree where we were given a macaron of our choice - I had an apple one which was stunningly good, just melted in your mouth (see extra for their shop display).  I think their macarons are said to be the best in the World
- Fortnum and Mason where we had a general look around and a sample of a dark chocolate praline
- Prestat where we could choose our preferred chocolate to try - I had an almond praline
- Godiva where we had a quick talk by the chocolatier, plus a chance to sample their milk chocolate, and a hazelnut praline which was lush (plus a couple of extras to take away).  The chocolate covered strawberries in the main photo were in their window.
- Paul A Young where we had another talk by the chocolatier and could choose which chocolate we tried - I had their award winning sea salt caramel which was to die for.

My favourite shop was Charbonnel et Walker and favourite chocolate was Paul A Young's sea salt caramel.  The best surprise were the macarons at Laduree - amazing flavour and texture.  I'd recommend visiting these if you're around Green Park any time.

An excellent day - just don't offer me a 'wafer-thin mint'!
