Hidden bounty

A largely good news day, despite the unremitting rain.  The kids made it to school (always touch and go on a Monday), the car bravely passed its first French MoT (and is thus spared for two years - garageman was shocked at our every-year regime), we were let off a fine for another car, and the tax office had some very good news for us.

Later, Mr B drove through pounding rain to the airport, and I drove the car home (leaving him with a couple of happy hours to spend in the (warm) lounge before his flight) through the even worse rain to start an afternoon of ferrying kids to places that was so complicated even I had to write it down in chart form.

But in the end all was well, and I made it to TallGirl's Spanish exchange programme meeting to discover all the cool things she will do out there, and all the things we are expected to do when they come here.

Anyway, after the meeting I was high with the excitement of (a) having understood it all and (b) not having made a total arse of myself in front of (a currently rather delicate) TallGirl, so finding this uneaten Christmas bounty should have made it a Perfect Day.  However, some clouds darken even the best of days (except yesterday) and a particularly big dark cloud is bringing things down just now.  More, inevitably, another time on all that.

Until then, I have chocolate, a warm bed and a book to drown in.

And blip lives to fight another day.
