An ordinary life....

Putting the Feelers Out...

Well my blip catch up last night was halted abruptly when Alan almost bit the top off David's finger!!

D was giving A his suppertime drink of milk when A inadvertently bit the plastic top off the sports bottle and almost swallowed it.   D automatically put his finger in A's mouth to fish it out, forgetting that due to his cerebral palsy, A still has a strong and involuntary bite reflex, so as soon as he felt David's finger in his mouth, his jaw clamped shut!

After what seemed like forever, A managed to open his mouth (the harder he tries to open his mouth the harder the bite reflex kicks in) and release the bottle top and his dad's finger.   I think the finger definitely came off worse!    Antiseptic wash, ice pack, arnica and strong painkillers helped.

Poor Alan, he gets quite distressed when this happens as he knows it's sore but can't help it and he hates causing hurt.  We played it down as best we could and all was well.

Thought D might need a tetanus so he asked at the health centre this morning but apparently not.  He's to go back if it swells or shows any sign of infection and they'll give him antibiotics.

Today has been fairly drama free, so far.  There's still time for that to change though!

After another breath of air in the garden this afternoon, I have spent most of the afternoon transferring photos from an old external hard drive (that I'd forgotten about) to the iMac, so brace yourself for some funny back blips over the next few weeks.  If I ever get them all transferred that is.  The hard drive connection is very sensitive and it keeps thinking its been removed!  Just as well I have the patience of a Saint!  ;-))))

I also found some old poetry on the hard drive that I wrote many moons ago.  If you're really unlucky and I'm feeling incredibly brave some of that might make it onto a blip at some point too.   Don't hold your breath though :))

PS Colour version in extras.
