Water Carrier

Safe and uneventful arrival at Inkosana Lodge further north-west in the Drakensburg Mountains.  It is beautiful with small, round and thatched units in a stunning setting with mountains in the distance.  Not a baboon in sight either!
The route passed many settlements with the women doing the washing in the stream, cattle milling around and the occasional satellite dish on a building. At one point I noticed a couple of people clearly carrying water from the river in the distance in large containers on their heads – it was a long way to the houses across large fields of grass!  We slowed down and I took some pictures and it was a young boy and his mother – as he got closer he called out to see if we had any sweets. We did have sweets left over from the school visit in Soweto so we stopped and gave him some plus some to another man who was wandering along the road.  The boy didn’t mind me taking his photograph.

There is wifi here so I hope to upload my blip before dinner where the six of us staying at Inkosana will eat together – should be interesting.
