But, then again . . . . .

Rhododendron ponticum.

We took Merlin down to see the old chestnut trees this afternoon; a group of local volunteers, known as “The Dirty Week-enders” had been tidying up and we wanted to see the results. On the way down, we passed a few of these Rhododendron stumps; there is a campaign to remove invasive species from the parkland around here, which  we fully endorse, and these are amongst the more pernicious offenders. We’re left wondering if there are plans to remove/kill the stumps or whether they will die off naturally after having been subjected to this sort of  abuse.

Time will tell and I will report back. I intend to return to the trees soon, fully armed to blip them now that they have had their make-over.

Thanks for all the comments, stars and hearts yesterday; they're really appreciated.
