A time for everything

Saturday
The forecast suggested the morning would be the better part of the day, so we got out for a walk after breakfast over in the Gorge de Franchard area. It was largely overcast, but at least it remained dry. As we were drawing to the end of our walk, we were intrigued to hear the sound of bagpipes coming through the trees - not what you expect to hear in the middle of a French forest! A little further on we arrived at the Ermitage de Franchard just in time to see the last three or four bagpipers, all kitted out in their kilts and tartans, disappearing into the building, we assume to have a special lunch of some sort. By the time we got back to the car, it was high time for our lunch, and since we were part way to Milly la Forêt, we decided to go to a sushi restaurant there that we like. The rest of the afternoon (which incidentally turned out quite sunny, the complete opposite of the forecast!) we spent at home, then early evening went into Fontainebleau to see Pucchini's Manon Lescaut, the simulcast from Opera from the Met at the cinema. I wasn't at all familiar with it, but it was very good.
