Anglesey Abbey

Today got off to a bit of a disastrous start!
The Little Misses were excited to get going with their Mother's Day surprises and made Mr K get up!
They came in bearing tea (a very important grown up job for Miss E!) and toast (Miss L) and a tray full of lovely home-made cards, pictures, flowers and a wrapped  up present (expertly carried by Mr K).
Unfortunately Mr K's expertise failed him when he inexplicably put the tray down on my knee and stood back to watch the vase tip over and the water flood the tray, the cards, the pictures, the duvet, me, and the mattress.
Bloody hell!!
Miss L was distraught watching all her efforts ruined and started sobbing inconsolably. Which, of course, upset me.
As did the fact that I had to get up as the duvet and mattress were soaked!!
But the day got better!!
We headed off to Anglesey Abbey for a lovely day out with my mum and dad.
It was a bit chilly but great as ever. The Little Misses ran around for hours! They climbed in the tree Miss E climbed in the Summer. It looks a bit different today (See extras) and I can't believe Miss E got all the way up to the top!
They loved playing the giant xylophones, tying twine to twigs, generally scrabbling about in mud, giving lessons in the classroom in the woods, watching all the birds from the hide (and thankfully escaping a hail downpour while we were in there!), cartwheeling, collecting snails, jumping on hay bales, swinging in hammocks and doing bark rubbings. Brilliant!
The day ended with a lovely visit to my mum and dad's toasty warm camper van for hot chocolate and the chance to warm up!
McDonalds on the way home. I resisted a Big Mac having already polished off much of Mr K's coffee and walnut cake earlier!
The Little Misses went straight to bed filthy urchins that they are. Mr K and I watched a few episodes of Downton and then went to bed ourselves. All this fresh air is exhausting!!
