The accidental finding

Badbrook hall, aka Stroud co-flats

I've blipoed this building before, several times. Starting in 2012, this building https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2443758 was sold and then redeveloped into small 'eco flats' located on a busy road junction. Many of them are now occupied. This is the side elevation, on Gloucester Street, Stroud, on a sunny morning. The tall brick building on the left is the Merrywalks cinema and bowling complex, completed 2005. The small white shed-like building is used by a charity, and is a former public bath house or 'slipper bath'. As for Badbrook or Badbroke hall, I've never been able to find out much about it. However, on the present site of the nearby cinema there once stood a large mansion owned by one of Stroud's cloth mill owners. The owner in question was dragged out of his own house and ducked in his own pond, during the Stroud weavers' riots. That was a couple of centuries ago, long before I came to Stroud.

Meanwhile, it's Friday night and I merely feel as if I have been dragged through a pond! On the plus side, we have had a good supper and ordered a new freesat box. The current one is now feeling threatened and is behaving impeccably. It hasn't crashed once this evening, which makes aa welcome change.
