The Folly

Paid a visit today to Judd's Folly Hotel located in Syndale Park on the outskirts of Faversham in Kent. The hotel sits on three acres of land once occupied by an old Manor House called The Folly which burned down in 1961.

The Folly was a Manor House (shown in the Blip photo) built in the 1680s on an area of land called Judd's Hill. The land was given to Daniel Judd by Oliver Cromwell for payment of his gunpowder. Tunnels used to lead from the hill to the creek for smuggling. During World War Two The Folly was used by the Home Office and was visited by Winston Churchill.

Today Judd's Folly Hotel is owned by Christopher and Jason good friends of my pals Chris and Mark.

It was so lovely to see the hotel today with an unexpected behind the scenes tour and sneak peek into refurbishments as well as a potted history from Christopher - you all know how I do love a step back into the past...
